Following the local elections, a significant issue has emerged in Strugë, with hundreds of council and electoral commission members still awaiting their allowances. The outstanding payments total approximately 330,000 euros, generating considerable frustration among those involved. Members are expressing strong dissatisfaction with the institutions’ lack of response and failure to deliver what they believe is rightfully theirs.
They contend it is wholly unacceptable for the authorities to delay such payments, particularly when other municipalities had completed their disbursements before the New Year. “The local self-governing bodies and the mayor must take responsibility,” stated Vasko Joleski, a member of the electoral council. “It is inappropriate to prolong this delay, considering the members diligently performed their duties without any issues and deserve to be compensated according to established legal procedures.”
The law stipulates that funds should be allocated for local elections to council and commission members.
This situation highlights a critical concern regarding the timely payment of compensation to those who contributed to the democratic process within Strugë.
