Justice Minister of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, has strongly condemned a recent joint editorial penned by Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, alongside Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, which appeared in the German newspaper, FAZ. The minister expressed her deep disapproval of the publication, urging Kosovar citizens not to accept it. She asserted that the article represents a significant breach of trust and should not be overlooked.
Gërvalla emphasized that Albania shouldn’t pursue any agreements with Serbia that rely on transit through Kosovo. The minister’s comments highlight a growing concern within Kosovo regarding Rama’s actions. Specifically, she criticized Rama’s willingness to collaborate with Vučić, suggesting that it goes beyond a simple disregard for historical sensitivities.
“From Prime Minister rama, who even surpasses those who close one eye on the past, this is the latest article published together with Vučić in the prestigious German newspaper,” she stated. Gërvalla concluded by arguing that the article fosters a troubling perception – that whenever Vučić receives backing from the European Union, Europe itself implicitly endorses him. The minister’s words underscore the importance of maintaining Kosovo’s sovereignty and independence in navigating relations with neighboring countries.
