Today commemorates 22 years since the tragic events of March 17, 2004, concerning the deaths of three Albanian youngsters in the Ibër river, specifically in the village of Çabër near Zubin Potok. Marking this somber anniversary, Mayor Faton Peci, alongside Minister of Interior Xhelal Sveçla, laid flowers at the graves of the deceased. Peci’s Facebook post detailed the circumstances surrounding the children’s demise.
He stated that the three children were pursued into the river, and, driven by panic, they jumped in, with only one, Fitim Veseli, surviving the ordeal. The post, titled “Three Lilies of Çabrë in the 22nd Anniversary of Their Macabre Death,” expressed profound grief. It mourned the barbaric drowning of 13-year-old Egzon Deliu, 12-year-old Avni Veseli, and 9-year-old Florent Veseli.
The mayor, peci, emphasized the horrific nature of the incident, attributing the deaths to the actions of criminal Serbian gangs. The event remains a deeply painful memory for the community, forever linked to the tragic loss of these young lives within the river.
