Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation on Monday. He explained that he “could not support with a clear conscience” the administration’s actions regarding iran. Kent shared his reasoning on social media, asserting that iran “did not pose an imminent threat to our nation.”
According to reports from foreign media, as relayed by Telegrafi, Kent believes that we initiated this conflict due to pressure exerted by Israel and its influential American supporters.
Kent, previously a political candidate with connections to right-wing extremist groups, was confirmed in his role in July of last year through a vote of 52 to 44. After considerable deliberation, I have made the decision to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective immediately. My core conviction is that I cannot, in good conscience, continue to endorse the ongoing war in iran.
Kent’s departure reflects a significant shift in perspective regarding the situation.
