Starting May 1st, reduced prices will be applied to more than 300 medications.

The Ministry of Health has finalized the yearly review of maximum drug prices for 2026, utilizing established methods for determining these costs. The ministry emphasizes that drug prices are crucial for guaranteeing accessible treatments for the population and maintaining the stability of the overall health system. This pricing strategy represents a vital, direct influence on public healthcare spending.

Health Minister Azir Aliu stated, “Drug prices are a key instrument to ensure affordable therapies for citizens and the sustainability of the healthcare system, therefore their determination is a strategic decision with a direct impact on public healthcare expenditures.” The process involved thorough analyses and discussions to establish appropriate reductions. Where demonstrable market indicators were present, reductions in maximum drug prices were implemented. These revised price limits have now been released on the Ministry’s website.

As a result, the selection of medications subject to these new, lowered maximum prices has decreased by 156. This adjustment reflects a commitment to responsible management of healthcare costs and continued access to essential medicines for citizens.
