The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Minister of Sport, Blerim Gashani, joined forces with government officials, the Judo Federation’s head, Agron Kuka, and Driton Kuka, to inaugurate a significant project. The event marked the laying of a cornerstone for an expansion of the National Judo Center in Peja, a venture costing over 5.7 million euros. Prime Minister Kurti highlighted the importance of this undertaking, stating, “Today, here in Peja, in the neighborhood of world champions, we are not just laying a foundation stone.

Today, we continue the success of Kosovan judo.” He underscored that judo represents Kosovo’s most notable achievement in sports as a nation. Kurti explained that this center constitutes a crucial step towards securing Olympic medals for Paris 2024. The facility, which opened its doors in September 2021, has already played a vital role in developing the sport of judo.

The expansion will further enhance the center’s capabilities and support the continued growth of the sport within Peja and across Kosovo. The unwavering dedication of the Federation will undoubtedly contribute to future successes in judo.
