Mickoski: According to the IMF, the government reacted with anti-crisis measures at the right time.

Mickoski Highlights North Macedonia’s Response to Economic Crisis

Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski announced today that North Macedonia is recognized as one of three European nations taking proactive measures to address the ongoing economic crisis. Speaking to reporters, Mickoski cited an analysis by the International Monetary Fund as evidence of the government’s preparedness. The analysis reportedly indicated that the Mickoski-led administration responded swiftly and effectively to the crisis, mitigating a potentially more significant economic and price shock.

Key interventions included a reduction in excise duties on petroleum products and a decrease in the value-added tax. “These measures have proven particularly effective,” Mickoski stated. “The reduction of excise duties and VAT has demonstrably lessened the impact of the crisis.”

Currently, these reductions are set to continue for the next two weeks, maintaining the value-added tax rate at 10 percent.

This policy is expected to contribute to a further decrease in gasoline prices, a trend already observed. Mickoski emphasized the government’s commitment to sustained support during this period of economic challenge.
