Haxhiu says there are two possibilities regarding the date of the elections.

Kosovar Institute Director Suggests Early Elections Amidst Political Gridlock

Prishtina, Kosovo – The Director of the Kosovar Institute of Justice (IKD), Ehat Miftaraj, is advocating for early parliamentary elections, citing ongoing political instability within the country. In a recent Facebook post, Miftaraj proposed that elections could be held at the end of May or early June. The suggestion follows a rejection of coalition government offers by Deputy Prime Minister, MPJ, and three other ministers, according to IKD Director Ehat Miftaraj.

He indicated that the move is intended to mitigate potential disruptions, particularly concerning electricity supply, noting, “At least parliamentary elections at the end of May or early June will not give us headaches even if the energy oligarchs decide that Kosovo will not have electricity on election day.”

Head of State Albulena Haxhiu has reportedly identified two specific dates for determining the electoral process, according to Miftaraj. The timing of these elections remains uncertain, but the IKD Director’s call highlights growing concerns regarding the current political landscape and the potential need for a fresh mandate. The proposal centers on the idea that early elections would provide a solution to the current challenges.
