Twelve Candidates Selected for Media Council Vote

Tirana, Albania – The Ad-hoc Commission for the selection of members of the Independent Media Commission (KPM) has finalized its shortlist of candidates following a series of interviews. On Monday, April 21, 2026, the commission, comprised of deputies Alban Bajrami (chairman) and a team including Arbëreshë Kryeziu Hyseni, Egzon Azemi, and Fitim Haziri, assessed 23 applicants. Ultimately, twelve candidates were chosen to proceed to a plenary session vote.

The selection process was overseen by the commission, which also included Nezir Kraki (who did not participate in the interviews), Ariana Musliu Shoshi, Ganimete Musliu, Ermal Sadiku, Igor Simiq, Fridon Lala, and Time Kadrijaj. The Albanian candidates who garnered the highest scores during the interviews are Drita Morina, Besnik Berisha, Majlinda Aliu, Petrit Hasanaj, and Vjona Syle. This selection represents a key step in establishing the KPM, with these twelve candidates now poised to be formally voted upon by the full session.

The outcome of this vote will determine the composition of the independent body responsible for overseeing media standards within Albania.
