The RAM shortage is reportedly delaying Apple’s Mac Studio and MacBook Pro.

Apple’s Mac Updates Facing Delays Due to Memory Constraints

Apple is experiencing delays in the release of updated models of its Mac computers, primarily due to persistent global shortages of memory, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Sources within Apple indicate these delays are considered “believable,” particularly concerning the upcoming Mac Studio, Apple’s high-performance desktop computer. The Mac Studio, initially slated for a mid-year launch – typically summer – is now under review for a potential October release date, Gurman reports.

These delays are also impacting the development of a new touchscreen MacBook Pro. Furthermore, the introduction of a Mac featuring a touchscreen is being pushed back, with Gurman suggesting a launch may not occur until next year. This new Mac, currently referred to internally as the “MacBook Neo,” is expected to incorporate a touch-screen interface.

The ongoing memory shortages are attributed, in part, to the increasing demand for AI applications and infrastructure. Apple is adjusting its production timelines accordingly, prioritizing key models like the Mac Studio and carefully managing the rollout of new features such as the touchscreen MacBook Pro. The company remains focused on delivering updated Mac experiences to its customer base.
