U.S. Forces Board Stateless Vessel in Indo-Pacific, Threaten Action Against Iranian-Backed Networks
U.S. Forces conducted a lawful boarding operation during the night, targeting a stateless vessel in the Indo-Pacific region.
According to the Pentagon, the action, carried out on the M/T Tifani, was described as a “lawfully board, visit, and arrest.” The operation occurred without incident, as reported by Telegrafi. The U.S. military stated the purpose of the operation was to disrupt networks supporting Iran and to prevent sanctioned vessels from providing material support.
Officials emphasized a continued commitment to monitoring global law enforcement efforts aimed at combating illicit networks and halting vessels linked to Iran’s activities “wherever they operate.”
Concerns have been raised regarding misleading messages circulating through cryptocurrencies offering safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon clarified that “International Waters Are Not a Sanctuary for Sanctioned Vessels.”
“We Will Monitor Global Law Enforcement Efforts to Disrupt Illicit Networks and to Stop Sanctioned Vessels That Provide Material Support to Iran – Wherever They Operate,” a spokesperson added. Furthermore, U.S.
Navy ports in Iran remain blocked.
