Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti Attributes Election Deficit to Opposition Lack of Support
Prishtina, Kosovo – Prime Minister Albin Kurti has attributed the outcome of the recent presidential election to a significant lack of support from the opposition, asserting that the opposition failed to secure even the initial application phase. According to Kurti, the opposition demonstrated a consistent unwillingness to participate in the process. Kurti characterized the opposition’s stance as a rejection of a “generous” offer to integrate into the institutional process.
He expressed frustration with the electoral result, noting that he received 51.1% of the vote. “They don’t have the votes to even collect signatures for a candidate,” Kurti stated. Twenty-two PDK deputies, he argued, were insufficient to initiate the application process.
Employing an analogy, Kurti likened the situation to a job application scenario. “Have you ever applied for a job? You get screened to not have the documents and then you say you went to work… but you don’t even have the documents to apply,” he explained.
The Prime Minister’s comments highlight a key point of contention surrounding the election results and the role of the opposition in Kosovo’s political landscape. The issue centers around the opposition’s failure to provide the necessary votes to proceed.
