LVV distances itself from Geci’s statement about Thaci and Nagavci: Just and pure liberation war

Vetëvendosje Leader Rejects Deputy’s Call for Life Sentence

Prishtina – Leader of the Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) Movement’s parliamentary group, Arbërie Nagavci, has publicly distanced herself from a recent statement made by party deputy Fatos Geci. Geci’s remarks, delivered during a session of the Kosovo Assembly, called for a life sentence to be imposed on former president Hashim Thaçi. Nagavci clarified that the Vetëvendosje Parliamentary Group’s stance regarding the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (UÇK) war of liberation remains consistent and well-documented.

She emphasized that these positions are publicly available and unchanged. “I believe it is known the positions of the Vetëvendosje Parliamentary Group regarding the liberation war of the UÇK are public, clear, and we stand behind them,” Nagavci stated. “The liberation war was just and pure, and we respect the efforts of all those who fell for freedom, all those who contributed to the freedom of the country.”

The Vetëvendosje leader’s response follows Deputy Geci’s statement.

Further details regarding the initial statement from Geci are pending. Nagavci’s clarification underscores the party’s established position on the historical context of the UÇK’s actions.
