Only two Albanian citizens are on Switzerland’s list for March matches.

Murat Yakin, the team’s selector, has chosen to invite only two Albanian players for the upcoming March national team friendlies. Captain Granit Xhaka and AC Milan midfielder Ardon Jashari are confirmed on the list for these two matches against Germany and Norway. There was some speculation regarding a potential unexpected invitation for Valmir Matoshi, driven by concerns he might represent Kosovo.

However, the “Helvetikët” (Swiss) ultimately decided against such a move. Notably, Adrian Bajrami was also excluded from the selection, despite his prior representation of Albania while playing for Switzerland last year. This decision reflects Yakin’s strategic choices for the friendlies.

The full roster includes a selection of goalkeepers: Marvin Keller, Gregor Kobel, and Yvon Mvogo. The defensive line features Manuel Akanji, Aurele Amenda, Eray Comert, Nico Elvedi, Luca Jaquez, Miro Muheim, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Silvan Widmer. Finally, the midfield and forward positions are filled by Michal Aebischer and Breel, completing the two-player Albanian contingent within the squad.
