One Applicant Approved Under New ‘Gold Card’ Visa Program

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a single applicant for the newly established “Gold Card” visa program, according to statements from Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. Launched in December, the program offers foreign nationals the opportunity to secure U.S.

residency permits through a financial contribution of $1 million to the government. The initiative involves a stringent vetting process overseen by the Department of Homeland Security. Applicants, in addition to the $1 million payment, must also pay a $15,000 processing fee.

Lutnick indicated that the most recent application was finalized in cooperation with DHS. While hundreds of applications remain under review and verification, only one individual has been granted approval to date. The program’s design aims to attract highly skilled individuals and generate revenue for the U.S.
