Albanian Medical Association Reports Increase in Patient Complaints

The Albanian Medical Association has reported a rise in patient complaints over the past year, totaling 52 instances. Thirty-five complaints were received during the previous twelve months, with an additional 17 submitted within the first three months of this year. The concerns primarily relate to both professional conduct and administrative processes within public health institutions.

According to the Albanian Medical Association, the complaints encompass a range of issues, including concerns about patient treatment and administrative shortcomings. The Patient Association has urged the Ministry of Health to establish formal mechanisms for reviewing these complaints effectively. Several complaints cited instances of inadequate healthcare treatment alongside concerns regarding the behavior of medical personnel.

One specific case involved a 70-year-old citizen who traveled from Vushtri to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo. The individual reported experiencing severe pain without receiving prescribed medication and noted elevated blood pressure, highlighting a desire for improved service standards. The association continues to monitor and address these reported issues, aiming to improve patient satisfaction and ensure accountability within the healthcare system.

Further investigation into these complaints is ongoing.
