Daily Water Intake Recommendations
Maintaining adequate hydration is crucial for overall health, as the human body is composed of approximately 50% water and constantly loses fluids through respiration and perspiration. Insufficient water intake can lead to dehydration, characterized by symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, constipation, and urinary tract infections. The recommended daily water intake varies based on several factors, including age and gender.
Children aged 4-8 years should consume around 1.2 liters of water daily. Teen boys require 1.6 to 1.9 liters, while teen girls should aim for approximately 1.5 liters. Adults under 60 years of age have different needs: men should drink around 2 liters of water daily, and women should consume approximately 1.6 liters.
These recommendations are general guidelines and individual needs may vary depending on activity level, climate, and overall health.
