Trençevska asks OBRM-PDUKM-në: There are ministers in the government with Bulgarian passports, will you put Bulgarians in the Constitution?

MP Trenčevska Presses Government on Bulgarian Inclusion in Constitution

At today’s parliamentary session, MP and Deputy Prime Minister Jovana Trenčevska questioned Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Zoran Dimitrovski, regarding the Government’s stance on including Bulgarians within the Constitution. The session occurred in the absence of Foreign Minister Timço Mucunski. Trenčevska’s inquiry centered on whether the Government would incorporate provisions addressing Bulgarian representation, a key condition cited by observers for progress toward European Union accession.

She expressed frustration with the lack of a direct response, noting a previous evasion of the question by Prime Minister regarding the matter. “I was considering whether to address the Prime Minister or Deputy Minister,” Trenčevska stated, “but yesterday the Prime Minister again avoided answering a question: will you include Bulgarians in the Constitution and instead of a clear position, citizens heard insults and manipulation.”

The MP emphasized the urgency of the issue, framing it within the context of the country’s European path. Her question, posed directly to Dimitrovski, sought clarification on the Government’s actions to support this trajectory.

Dimitrovski’s response, according to Trenčevska, was absent, leaving the matter unresolved. The session highlighted ongoing debate surrounding the inclusion of this crucial element within the Constitution.
