Osmani Commemorates Shtuticë and Vërboc Massacre, Highlights Family Losses

Pristina, Kosovo – Former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani marked the 27th anniversary of the tragic events in Shtuticë and Vërboc, where 275 individuals were killed and over 40 were injured. The commemorations focused on the enduring impact of the loss and recognized the sacrifices made during the Kosovo conflict. In a public statement, Osmani reflected on the significance of the anniversary and acknowledged the profound grief felt by families affected by the violence.

She revealed that among the victims were two relatives – Luani and Rexhepi – the sons of her uncle. Osmani stated that these individuals will be forever remembered with sorrow, mirroring the experience of countless families who suffered losses during the war. She recounted the events of April 27, 2026, when forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), under the leadership of Ilaz Kodra, engaged with Serbian forces.

The KLA, according to accounts, provided protection to the local civilian population during the confrontation. The remembrance serves as a solemn occasion to honor the memory of those lost and to reflect on the complexities of the conflict’s legacy. Osmani’s statement underscored the continued importance of remembering this pivotal moment in Kosovo’s history.
