YouTube is rolling out the free Picture-in-Picture service to iPhone users outside the US.

YouTube Expands “Photo-in-Photo” Mode Globally

YouTube announced today that its “photo-in-photo” (PiP) mode is being rolled out to a wider global audience of users. Previously limited to subscribers in the United States and Premium subscribers worldwide, the feature will now be available to all users on iOS and Android devices. The “photo-in-photo” mode allows users to display a video as a smaller, floating window – effectively reducing the video to a reader format.

This functionality has been previously accessible to U.S. Premium subscribers and Premium subscribers globally. Notably, this expansion does not impact existing Premium subscribers, who will continue to utilize PiP for both music and non-music content.

Premium Lite members will also retain access to the feature for long, non-music content. YouTube confirmed that the change applies to non-music content, ensuring consistent functionality across the platform. The expansion represents a broadening of accessibility for users seeking to view content in a multi-tasking format.
