Kosovo Business Alliance Expresses Concerns Over Declining Economy
PRISHTINA – The Kosovo Business Alliance (AKB) has voiced significant alarm regarding the state of the Kosovo economy, citing a recent World Bank report. The alliance believes the report accurately reflects a precarious situation, characterized by a lack of sustainable development and a reliance on survival-level operations. According to the AKB’s assessment, the projected economic growth of 3.7% to 3.9% is deemed inadequate to address critical challenges facing the nation.
Specifically, the alliance argues that this growth rate is insufficient to generate new employment opportunities, raise wages, or reverse the ongoing trend of emigration from Kosovo. “3.7%–3.9% growth is insufficient for creating jobs, increasing wages, and stopping the emigration,” the AKB stated. The alliance’s concerns underscore a broader assessment of the economy’s trajectory, with projections indicating continued difficulties in fostering economic stability and attracting investment.
The situation highlights a pressing need for strategic interventions to bolster economic growth and address the outflow of skilled workers from the country.
