The potential for escalating prices in Kosovo: What actions will the Government take? News Gazeta Express 21/03/2026 13:04
Kosovo’s market faces a significant risk of fluctuating prices, mirroring conditions observed in Iran, as highlighted by Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari – Lila. She argues that implementing a profit margin for petroleum products has successfully deterred price manipulation.
During an interview on Radio Free Europe’s podcast, the minister detailed the reasons behind price changes at certain fuel stations following this policy. “A disparity in prices exists because the margin is set above the import cost and remains variable, resulting in dynamic pricing.”
The minister clarified that the cost of oil and related products at various stations varies based on the current market price. This dynamic system allows for adjustments reflecting global market conditions, mitigating the immediate risk of substantial price increases.
The government’s strategy aims to stabilize prices and protect consumers from undue volatility within the Kosovan market.
