Political Analyst Ymeri Attributes Presidential Stalling to Prime Minister Kurti
Prishtina – Political analyst Visar Ymeri has asserted that Prime Minister Albin Kurti bears responsibility for the ongoing impasse in electing a president of the Republic of Kosovo. Speaking on the VV Show on April 5, 2026, Ymeri stated that Kurti’s lack of support hindered Vjosa Osmani’s bid for a second term. According to Ymeri, evidence of this lack of support emerged early after the election results.
He cited Kurti’s initial statements as indicating a deliberate strategy to undermine Osmani’s candidacy. “Some of us who have spoken publicly recognized from the outset that Kurti was uninterested in continuing with Vjosa,” Ymeri explained. “His initial interviews suggested a desire to frame the process as if he would be a candidate himself, a tactic that appears to exclude Vjosa.”
Ymeri’s comments underscore a key point of contention surrounding the presidential selection process.
The analyst’s assessment suggests that Kurti’s actions significantly contributed to the difficulties surrounding Vjosa Osmani’s re-election. The situation remains unresolved as Kosovo prepares for upcoming elections.
