LSDM: Mickoski wants to arrest Gruevski

LSDM Claims Mickoski’s Actions Driven by Power Consolidation Following Constitutional Change

Skopje – The opposition Liberal Democratic Party of Macedonia (LDSM) has asserted that following the inclusion of Bulgarian citizens within the Constitution, Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Democratic Party (IMRD) leader Hristjan Mickoski is now reportedly seeking to arrest former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski to solidify his political position. According to LSDM representatives, Mickoski’s stated motivations include improving his image within European circles and projecting an image of support for European Union membership. They argue this is a calculated maneuver.

“By fulfilling these two conditions – the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution and the arrest of Gruevski – Mickoski aims to create a more favorable perception for himself in Europe and appear as a ‘man who is for the EU’,” the LSDM stated. The opposition party contends that Mickoski’s actions are driven by a desire to expand his power and prolong a period of alleged illicit activity. Recent appointments within the IMRD have seen key vice-presidents positioned to support Gruevski’s continued role.

Furthermore, Mickoski has yet to fully address ongoing judicial challenges related to his previous tenure. The LSDM continues to express skepticism regarding Mickoski’s intentions, suggesting the strategy is a superficial attempt to gain international favor.
