The National Institute of Public Health confirmed that the deceased was an 82-year-old man originating from Dumnica, Podujevë. Born in 1938 within the village of Dumnicë, part of the Municipality of Podujevë, the patient was admitted to the Infectious Clinic on March 16, 2020, six days after the onset of his illness. He presented with pulmonary infiltration and severe left pneumonia.
Furthermore, the patient had underlying chronic conditions, including cardiac and chronic respiratory ailments. It is important to note that the first two confirmed cases of coronavirus within Kosovo were identified in March 2020. By this point, the total number of confirmed infections had risen to 82,185.
This six years since the first fatality underscores the lasting impact of the pandemic on the nation.
