Sela: Without bailiffs in the Constitutional Court, we will not enter the Government

Sela Declares Alliance for Albanians Will Not Join Government Without Badinter in Constitutional Court

Skopje – Alliance for Albanians leader Zijadin Sela has stated that his party will not participate in the upcoming government of North Macedonia unless the principles of the Badinter Court ruling are fully respected and implemented. This follows recent discussions involving VLEN regarding potential collaboration within the governing coalition. Speaking on April 5th, 2026, Sela emphasized the need for any potential alliance to be grounded in clearly defined political guidelines and specific conditions.

He asserted that the practical application of the Badinter principle within the Constitutional Court is a paramount concern for his political bloc. “Once employers would say to workers ‘if you don’t want them, there are other children’,” Sela explained. He highlighted the significance of this issue in guaranteeing equality and ensuring fair representation for the community.

Sela’s statement indicates a significant hurdle to the formation of the government, suggesting a fundamental disagreement on core constitutional matters. The Alliance for Albanians’ stance underscores the importance of the Badinter principle in the ongoing negotiations. Without this commitment, Sela stated, his party will remain outside the government.
