Authorities Warn Public of Traffic Violation Scam Targeting North Macedonian Citizens
The Cybercrime Sector of the Ministry of Interior’s Public Safety Department is alerting citizens to a growing scam involving fraudulent traffic violations. Over recent days, an increasing number of individuals have received messages from an unidentified source using the phone number +639606963624. These messages relate to alleged traffic violations and request payment via a specific website: http://mvr.govmk.cam/mk.
The scam operates by directing recipients to a fraudulent website mimicking the Public Road Administration (MPB). Upon clicking a link within the initial message, users are prompted to enter their vehicle registration number. This information then leads to a window displaying a fabricated traffic violation notice, followed by a demand for a payment of 1500 denars.
Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and not respond to unsolicited messages requesting payment for alleged traffic violations. They emphasize the importance of verifying any such communications directly with official sources. The Ministry is actively investigating the source of these messages and pursuing appropriate action.
Citizens encountering these suspicious messages are advised to report them to the authorities immediately.
