The oil crisis, Ymeri: Reducing taxes is not a long-term solution – a strategy is needed.

Janina Ymeri, a Kosovan deputy from LDK, voiced serious worries about the escalating cost of oil within the country. She called for immediate, tangible actions from governmental bodies to address the situation and lessen its effects on both residents and local businesses. In a public declaration, Ymeri stressed the urgent requirement for a defined strategy regarding Kosovo’s oil reserves.

“A comprehensive assessment is necessary, encompassing not only state-owned assets but also private holdings,” she stated. “Consequently, dialogues must be established with oil companies to determine what Kosovo can secure and maintain.”

Furthermore, Ymeri highlighted anxieties surrounding potential supply disruptions during periods of crisis. “What is our approach if oil prices surge by 2-3 times, and what if Kosovo faces a two-week oil shortage?” she questioned.

She proposed the implementation of a subsidy program as a possible solution. Ymeri, through her comments, underscored the critical need for proactive management of the oil situation and the protection of citizens and businesses from potential harm.
