IQMT and MINTI Continue Electric Meter Verification Following Consumer Complaints
Prishtina – The Central Inspection for Market Supervision (IQMT), in collaboration with the Ad Hoc Commission of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI), is continuing its verification action regarding electric meters following a series of consumer complaints. The ongoing initiative aims to ensure accuracy and compliance within the electricity distribution sector. During inspections conducted in the Prishtina and Ferizaj regions, irregularities were identified in several electric meters.
Specifically, instances of deviations in recorded time and date readings were discovered. Affected equipment has been immediately recalled and is undergoing further analysis at the laboratories of the Kosovo Metrology Agency. In addition to the equipment examination, two legal procedures have been initiated against the KEDS operator, aligning with current legislation.
These relate to meters with expired validity periods. The action is part of a broader effort to maintain standards and address concerns raised by consumers. The IQMT and MINTI are working to ensure the integrity of the metering system and uphold consumer protection measures.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
