Approximately 20% of medical leaves within the Ministry of Interior are classified as “irregular.”

Twenty percent of medical leaves taken by employees within the Ministry of Interior have been classified as irregular. The North Macedonian Gazeta Express reported this on March 23, 2026, at 4:06 PM. The North Macedonian Health Insurance Fund (FSSH) announced that their investigation uncovered that 19.45% of the medical leaves taken by Ministry of Interior staff during the second half of last year were deemed irregular.

The FSSH explained that, following research conducted during the second quarter of last year, 80 employees within the ministry utilized 514 instances of medical leave. The review, finalized in the second half of 2025, assessed the records of 80 individuals covered by the public health fund, encompassing a total of 514 medical leave cases. This significant number of cases was examined by the FSSH’s study, highlighting potential issues with the granting of these medical leaves.

The investigation focused on ensuring compliance with regulations surrounding employee medical leave within the ministry. Further scrutiny is expected to determine the validity of these instances and address any irregularities identified.
