A suspect has been arrested in Mitrica, Pristina, in connection with war crimes.

The Kosovo Police, through its criminal investigation unit within the Directorate for War Crimes, acted on an order from the Special Prosecutors’ Office. This resulted in the arrest of Mr. S.

He is facing accusations of committing war crimes against the civilian population. The defendant is believed to have been involved with a Serbian paramilitary group. Investigations suggest he participated in acts of war crimes during the period between 1998 and 1999.

These crimes allegedly occurred in the village of Matiçan, located within the Prishtina municipality. According to a statement released by the Special Prosecutors’ Office, Mr. S.

is suspected of involvement in serious offenses. The prosecutors intend to formally pursue these allegations within the established legal procedures. They will request pre-trial detention from the Basic Court of Pristina, Special Department, as permitted by the Code of Criminal Procedure.
