The conflict could save tourism in Albania, but foreigners who canceled plans in the Middle East are arriving.

The ongoing conflict presents a surprising opportunity for tourism in Albania. However, travelers who had previously arranged trips to the Middle East are now withdrawing their plans due to the escalating dispute. A mother and daughter from Denmark, originally intending to visit Jordan, opted to explore Albania following disruptions caused by the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

“We’ll be residing in Durrës. This is our fourth day, and we’ve scheduled a stay of twelve days overall,” explained May Brit Vinther from Denmark. “We booked several tours at the last minute, as our initial plans were to travel to Jordan.”

Despite a sluggish start to the year, with foreign arrivals declining after the pandemic, a potential recovery is emerging thanks to the instability in the Middle East.

This has triggered numerous cancellations and alterations to travel itineraries. Albania is experiencing a surge in visitors seeking alternative destinations. The situation highlights how geopolitical events can unexpectedly reshape travel choices and boost interest in destinations like Albania.
