Bedri Hamza, chairman of the Partia Demokratike e Kosovës (PDK), has announced that Miftar Kurti, a former leader and member of the UÇK (Kosovarska Partizane Lëvizë – Kosovo Liberation Army) in the Bajgorë Region, will be running as a candidate for parliament within the PDK. The announcement was made via a Facebook post. Hamza highlighted Kurti’s background, stating he is “an intellectual who has served the country in war and in peace.” He welcomed Kurti to the PDK’s list of parliamentary candidates, referring to him as “Prof.

ass. dr. Miftar Kurt – professor, researcher, writer and fighter of the UÇK.”

The PDK chairman emphasized the importance of Kurti’s contributions, noting his involvement in education, culture, history, and state-building.

“Kosovo needs people with knowledge, experience and integrity,” Hamza stated. Prior to joining the PDK, Kurti held the position of assistant commander within the UÇK. This move represents a significant development for the PDK as it seeks to broaden its support base within Kosovo.

The party intends to leverage Kurti’s experience and background as a key element of its campaign.
