Pal Lekaj Withdraws from June 7th Elections, Focuses on New Members
Former Kosovo Minister Pal Lekaj has announced his decision not to seek a parliamentary seat in the upcoming June 7th extraordinary elections. The announcement, made via a Facebook post, signals a shift in strategy for Lekaj and his political affiliation. Lekaj stated he is “opening doors for new members” within the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.
He expressed confidence in the alliance’s prospects, alongside candidate Gjini for Prime Minister, citing accumulated experience and the contributions of individuals involved in Kosovo’s state-building process. “I believe that our political family, together with Mr. Gjini, with the experience accumulated over the years and with the individuals who have passed through all stages of state-building, will emerge victorious in these elections and will return hope to the citizens of the country,” Lekaj wrote in his post, which addressed Alliance structures, sympathizers, voters, and supporters.
The move comes as part of the broader political landscape leading up to the June 7th vote. Lekaj’s decision highlights a strategic realignment within the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, prioritizing the inclusion of new participants in the campaign.
