Ilir Meta’s legal team presented a €50,000 security bond to the GJKKO court, seeking his release from detention. However, the court ultimately denied this proposal for the former president. Following the rejection, his lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, addressed the media, asserting that there was no longer justification for Ilir Meta’s continued confinement within the 313 basement.
“We submitted a significant financial guarantee, reaching €50,000, and the court unfortunately failed to drop the case,” Cakrani explained. “The hearing progressed positively, yet a last-minute shift altered the outcome.”
The legal team intends to persist in their efforts to modify Ilir Meta’s detention conditions. They plan to re-submit a request for a different measure once the case is transferred to the base court.
Their objective is to replace the current confinement. The initial purpose of their actions was to ascertain the reasons behind the court’s decision to hold Ilir Meta in the 313 basement. He reportedly inquired about the basis for his continued detention, highlighting the ongoing legal proceedings.
