Prime Minister Mickoski Anticipates Review Following Halt to Coal Procurement Investigation

Skopje – Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski has expressed his intention to file a complaint following a recent decision to discontinue the investigation into the procurement of coal for the TC Negotinë power plant. The investigation, involving 13 individuals and a company, was valued at over 160 million euros. Mickoski stated that he anticipates a thorough review of the case, citing concerns regarding the initial findings.

He also reported contacting Chief Prosecutor Nenad Saveski, who indicated that the head of the Organized Crime and Corruption Prosecution had not informed him of the decision. The Organized Crime and Corruption Prosecution concluded that no evidence of criminal activity was found in the supply of coal to TC Negotinë. Consequently, the investigation was halted.

“I was not convinced when I heard the news yesterday,” Mickoski said. “I was shocked by what I heard. Upon receiving the decision, I intend to file a complaint and expect a comprehensive review and analysis of the situation.”

The Prime Minister’s statement highlights a significant point of contention surrounding the procurement process and the subsequent actions of the prosecution.
