A recent survey indicates a significant level of concern regarding the potential for war in the United Kingdom. Approximately 40% of people across the country believe that Britain will be involved in armed conflict within the next five years. This alarming statistic is compounded by the fact that over two-thirds of respondents also expressed a fear of being unable to manage effectively during a time of conflict.
The survey further revealed that a substantial majority – over half of those questioned – felt that Britain is currently inadequately prepared for a war scenario. This sentiment emerged alongside the launch of a new, independent initiative designed to strengthen national resilience. Olga Maitland, the founder of Resilience Imperative, highlighted the purpose of this undertaking.
She stated that the initiative will be a national, non-partisan campaign, independently funded and supported. It will work in collaboration with a diverse coalition of organizations spanning various sectors of society. The campaign’s goal is to inform all segments of the population, from individual citizens to larger industry groups, about strategies for coping with potential challenges.
The survey underscores a widespread apprehension about the possibility of war and the need for proactive measures to ensure the nation’s preparedness.
