The cleanup process from wartime debris in Junik is progressing, representing a significant step toward security.

The Junik municipality has finalized a substantial waste removal initiative within the impacted zones, recognizing it as a pivotal step towards enhanced safety for its inhabitants. This accomplishment was realized through the collaboration of the HALO Trust organization and the backing of international partners, specifically the United States, Switzerland, and Japan. The project’s success stemmed from a concerted effort to address previously dangerous locations.

Areas situated in the border regions of the Albanian Alps, previously considered hazardous, are now being systematically cleared. A formal ceremony was held to commemorate the project’s completion, attended by representatives from local governing bodies and various international organizations. Notably present were the American Ambassador to Kosovo, Anu Pratipati, and the Swiss Ambassador, Jürg Sprecher.

Municipal officials emphasized the significance of this undertaking, highlighting the crucial role played by the supporting nations. This represents a major step forward in improving the well-being and security of the Junik community.
