Rahimaj suggests that Firuza Kallaba be declared “the Emblem of Kamenica” and a street should bear her name.

The Mayor of Kamenica, Kadri Rahimaj, has suggested recognizing Firuza Kallaba with the esteemed title “Symbol of Kamenica,” alongside a street within the municipality bearing her name. He made this announcement via a Facebook post, detailing his submission of these proposals to the Municipal Council. The action occurred on the 27th anniversary of the commencement of NATO’s bombing campaign against Serbian forces.

Rahimaj specifically stated, “Precisely today, on the 27th anniversary of the beginning of NATO’s bombing of Serbian forces, I presented two requests to the Municipal Council.”

He highlighted the significance of March 24th for Kosovo. Rahimaj emphasized that this date remains a profoundly important day for the region. “For Kosovo, March 24th remains a day of remembrance and deep gratitude, a day that ignited a spark of hope for a future that had previously seemed only an ideal,” he explained.

This initiative seeks to honor Firuza Kallaba’s legacy within Kamenica, reflecting on the historical context of the events surrounding the date. The proposals represent a gesture of recognition and appreciation for her contribution to the community.
