Global Engineer Girls Initiative Hosts Eighth Annual Meeting in Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey – The Global Engineer Girls (GEG) initiative, a social impact program spearheaded by Limak, convened engineering students from eight countries for its 2026 meeting in Istanbul. Established in 2015 by Limak Holding to promote women’s involvement in STEM fields, the program has evolved into a significant global movement. Originally launched as a national initiative in Turkey, GEG was rebranded as Global Engineer Girls to broaden its international reach and impact.

Limak Holding, a major international business group and concessionaire of the International Airport of Pristina, continues to lead the initiative. This year’s event, marking the eighth annual meeting, highlighted the transformation of GEG from a national program to a truly global organization. Participants engaged in workshops and networking opportunities, fostering collaboration among students from diverse backgrounds.

During the past year, the GEG network has significantly expanded, demonstrating the initiative’s growing influence in supporting and empowering young engineers. The program’s continued success underscores its commitment to increasing the representation of women within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics sectors. The focus remains on cultivating the next generation of female leaders in engineering.
