Within a week, five individuals killed with illegally possessed firearms in Kosovo – a severe increase in sentencing is being sought.

The situation began with the deployment of security cameras and culminated in a violent exchange of gunfire. On Monday evening, a police inspector sustained injuries, though the incident held no connection to his professional responsibilities. The perpetrator of this harm escaped the location, having utilized an illegally possessed weapon.

This is according to the police’s 24-hour report. The weapon itself was unlicensed, and its use led to a tragic event on Sunday afternoon in Podujevë’s Majac. Three individuals lost their lives as a result.

Adding to this, another murder took place on Saturday in Klinë, where a man identified as F.I. was fatally wounded; his brother, J.I., caused the fatal injuries. The same unlicensed firearm was subsequently employed a week earlier in Gjakovë, resulting in the deaths of five people and one additional injury.

Lawyer Asdren Bytyqi emphasized the need for prosecution. The circumstances surrounding these events highlight the dangers of weapons being illegally possessed.
