Security expert Avni Islami has addressed the political developments in Kosovo leading up to upcoming elections, asserting that Serbia is interfering with the country’s electoral and institutional processes. Islami specifically stated that Serbia is “terrorizing the Serb citizens of Kosovo through the Serbian List in these elections.”
Furthermore, Islami criticized remarks made by Petar Petkoviq, the Director of the so-called Office for Kosovo within the Serbian Government. He characterized Petkoviq’s statements as evidence of Serbia’s interference in Kosovo’s internal governance.
“The Director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government, Petar Petkoviq, has once again reconfirmed Serbia’s destabilizing tendencies regarding the Republic of Kosovo, openly interfering in its internal affairs,” Islami noted. According to the expert, the promotion of voting for the Serbian List, coupled with associated pressures, represents an attempt to undermine the democratic process within Kosovo. Islami’s comments highlight ongoing tensions regarding the autonomy and political direction of Kosovo as it navigates its electoral cycle amid sustained involvement from Serbia.
His analysis points to external pressures impacting the integrity of local political activities within the region.
