The young contingent of judokas representing Kosovo demonstrated considerable potential at the recent U14 Balkan Championship, held in North Macedonia. At the competition, three 12-year-old athletes—Qëndresa, Bora, and Soreja—competed, each participating in a rigorous schedule of five matches throughout the day. The team achieved notable success on the international stage, securing two bronze medals.
This achievement highlights the current level of development within the nation’s junior judo program. In addition to the two medals won, the third athlete delivered a strong performance, culminating in a fifth-place finish. Coach Driton Kuka commented on the athletes’ performance, stating that the results affirm the promising trajectory of judo in Kosovo.
According to Kuka, the outing demonstrated that the future of Kosovar judo remains robust. He noted that the combined efforts of Qëndresa, Bora, and Soreja confirmed the potential across various age groups within the sport. The participation and subsequent medal haul underscore the commitment of the young athletes and the ongoing development within the national training structure.
