The Israeli company, BlackCore, is facing escalating allegations of involvement in electoral interference across multiple international jurisdictions. According to the French disinformation detection service, Viginum, the company is now suspected of interfering with electoral processes not only in France but also in New York, Scotland, Angola, and Togo. The scrutiny intensified recently following reports from the Reuters agency, which indicated that French authorities suspect BlackCore orchestrated an online smear campaign.
This campaign reportedly targeted three mayoral candidates affiliated with the radical left and pro-Palestine party, La France Insoumise (LFI), during local elections within France. The details of these findings were presented publicly at a press conference held on Friday. During the event, Viginum director Marc-Antoine Brillant stated that the technical analysis conducted by investigators led directly to these conclusions regarding the company’s activities.
The presentation was made alongside the French Minister of the Interior, Sebastien Lecornu. These allegations suggest a pattern of activity linking BlackCore to disruptive influence campaigns impacting democratic processes. While the focus has been heavily placed on the recent events in France, the scope of the investigation, as detailed by Viginum, encompasses a wider geographical reach, raising concerns about the potential misuse of the company’s alleged capabilities in various nations’ elections.
