Venko Filipce, leader of the LSDM, stated on “X” that the recent declarations by Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova align with positions long advocated by the LSDM and those now shared by the Civic Front for Truth and Justice. During his post, Filipce highlighted specific statements made by Siljanovska-Davkova, noting that she asserted that historical agreements are unproductive and that Macedonia should pursue EU membership through the implementation of necessary reforms. Filipce quoted Siljanovska-Davkova stating, “For the first time, someone from the OBRM-PDUKM is publicly saying what we in the LSDM, and now in the large civic front, have repeatedly stated for a long time.
Historical agreements with Bulgaria and the work of the Historical Commission are not part of the conditions for continuing negotiations with the European Union. This is a bilateral issue between Macedonia and Bulgaria, not an European condition.”
The core message conveyed by the LSDM leader is that the arguments presented by Siljanovska-Davkova corroborate long-held stances of the party. Specifically, the LSDM appears to support the view that the process of EU accession should focus on reforms rather than being contingent upon resolving historical agreements with Bulgaria.
The remarks suggest a convergence of political viewpoints across different factions regarding the prerequisites for Macedonia’s integration into the European Union.
