CEC: Over 72 thousand ballot packages from the diaspora approved, others under review

The Central Election Commission (CEC) confirmed that the evaluation of suspected ballot packages cast from outside Kosovo, particularly those submitted by mail, remains ongoing at the Central Counting and Results Center (CCRC). According to data released by the CEC, as of the close of business on Saturday, April 13, 2026, a total of 75,590 packages had been processed. Of this total, 72,746 packages were deemed valid and approved, while 2,844 were rejected.

The primary reason cited for the rejection of these packages was the missing registration booklet. This document, which contains unique data, was issued by the CEC to the registered voter. Specifically, 2,571 packages were rejected due to the absence of this booklet.

Additional grounds for rejection included instances where a single package contained multiple ballots or represented more than one voter (177 cases), or cases where the voter failed to meet other specified criteria. The CEC continues to manage the rigorous process of verifying these overseas ballot packages to ensure the integrity of the election results. The ongoing evaluation process involves meticulous checks of each submission to validate the eligibility and completeness of the returned ballot packages.
