Young people’s interest in the KSF is growing, 234 applications for 44 positions

Interest in military service within the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) continues to rise, as evidenced by the recent application period. For the latest intake, 234 young people applied for only 44 cadet positions after the Ministry of Defense and the KSF concluded their competition. This high ratio suggests one of the most competitive recruitment cycles in recent years, reflecting growing confidence in the nation’s security structures.

The application process allows for admission to the Center for University Studies, as well as training at military academies in neighboring countries, including Turkey, Albania, Croatia, and North Macedonia. With over five candidates vying for each available position, the level of interest is considered exceptionally high. The Ministry of Defense noted that this significant interest demonstrates the trust young people place in security institutions and the increasing appeal of a military career.

Officials view this as clear evidence of the new generation’s commitment to serving the country and bolstering the Republic of Kosovo’s defense capabilities. Security experts concur that this trend is positive for Kosovo’s security outlook. Security professor Fatmir Çollaku stated that the heightened interest indicates a greater citizen awareness regarding the KSF’s role as a crucial guarantor of Kosovo’s safety.

Similarly, expert Arben Dashevci highlighted the mutual benefits for both the state and the aspiring officers. Dashevci pointed out that the opportunity for young people to train in international locations, such as Croatia or Albania, represents a significant advantage. Ultimately, increasing the number of young soldiers not only enhances national defense capacity but also provides professional and academic pathways, contributing to a more skilled future force.
