Mickoski: The previous government signed a capitulation by accepting Bulgarian demands, I will not submit to blackmail

North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, issued several statements regarding the political direction of the country, specifically addressing the actions of the previous administration. Mickoski asserted that the previous government, which included parties such as SDSM and BDI, had effectively signed a “capitulation” by acceding to demands originating from Bulgaria. He stated that his current administration would not submit to such external pressures or political blackmail.

Mickoski structured his remarks around two primary points. First, he emphasized that any proposed constitutional changes would require the endorsement of OBRM-PDUKM. He cautioned that opposition politicians might be compromising Macedonian identity and statehood, noting that while he could neither praise nor condemn their choices, the decision remained theirs.

Secondly, he addressed the agreement signed by the previous government, characterizing the document as a “white document” that he deemed a capitulation. According to Mickoski, the decisions made by the previous government were influenced by various self-interests held by the constituent parties, including BDI and SDSM. These statements mark a clear demarcation from the political policies enacted by the previous ruling coalition, positioning Mickoski’s leadership as resistant to perceived external political coercion.
