The tabulation of diaspora votes is significantly influencing the distribution of mandates and altering the party rankings across several municipalities in Kosovo. Preliminary results initially showed the Vetëvendosje Movement leading the majority of municipalities; however, other parties held the lead in specific areas, such as the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) in Istog and the Alliance in Junik. The inclusion of diaspora votes has since shifted these standings.
In Istog, the Vetëvendosje Movement has taken the top position, leading the LDK by 109 votes, even with three boxes of diaspora ballots still pending count. Meanwhile, in Junik, where one additional box remains to be counted, LVV has surpassed the AAK, currently leading by 40 votes. In this municipality, the LDK is positioned third, just five votes behind the Alliance.
These changes indicate a broader realignment of political strength across the municipalities. Consequently, the LDK no longer holds the leading position in any municipality surveyed. Conversely, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has maintained its prominence, remaining the leading force in Skenderaj, Drenas, and Malisheva, even after factoring in the diaspora votes.
Furthermore, while AAK continues to maintain its primary standing in Deçan, the overall impact of the diaspora votes is reshaping the political landscape in several key areas.
