Ashley Cole is leaving his role with the England U21 team, taking on the leadership of the Italian squad.

Ashley Cole is embarking on his initial coaching role, taking charge of Italian club Cesena in Serie B, as confirmed by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. The Italian side recently relieved manager Michele Mignani, a move stemming from their current eighth-place standing in the league. This position is only one point behind seventh-place Juve Stabia.

Recent disappointing performances have driven this change. Following their 2-0 win against Pescara on February 6th, Cesena has experienced a string of losses against Virtus Entella, Venezia, Spezia, and Monza. They’ve also drawn matches with Empoli, Modena, and Frosinone.

The 45-year-old former English defender has left his position with the England U21 national team. It is anticipated that Ashley Cole will be formally appointed as Cesena’s head coach. Cole previously had an outstanding career, widely recognized as one of the premier defenders of his era.

This marks a significant step in his transition into management within the italian football landscape.
